- High Impact Clinical Interventions – Select evidence-based interventions are directly linked to maternal mortality reduction.
- Essential Health System Interventions – Even high impact interventions cannot be implemented unless a strong health system supports those services.
- Programming Issues – A number of crucial issues surrounding the design, development, and implementation of maternal health care have slowed the development of a concerted effort toward the goal.
- Quality Care – The issue of quality is one element that requires programming attention.
- Access to Care – Likewise, programming for access is vital to the utilization of services.
- Measuring Progress – Finally, measurement and evaluation are essential to the development and improvement of services.
