Providing Diaphragms

When to Start

Woman's situation	When to start
Any time	At any time If she has had a full-term delivery or second-trimester spontaneous or induced abortion less than 6 weeks ago, give her a backup method to use, if needed, until 6 weeks have passed.
Special advice for women switching from another method	Suggest that she try the diaphragm for a time while still using her other method. This way she can safely gain confidence that she can use the diaphragm correctly.
