HIPNET Mailing List Updates
The Spanish mailing has been sent out (about 200+ libraries) and the French mailing is about to go out as well. An e-mail will be sent out with all the specifics.
When POPLINE has conducted surveys in the past, they have asked what format was preferred: paper vs digital (CD, DVD etc). A large minority of users still prefer "paper." On the other hand quite a large number of libraries reported that they had access to DVD drives.
We will be sending out an evaluation survey for the mailings via Zoomerang to the English, French and Spanish libraries to see if we can get some feedback on the usefulness of the materials. If you would like a copy of the questions we plan to ask, please contact Anjali Sanghvi at asanghvi@jhuccp.org. Some suggested additions/changes:
- How many patrons use your library per week?
- What do you do with the multiple copies we send you?
We are also able to share the mailing lists with anyone who wishes to have them for their own mailings.
Monitoring and Evaluation Sub-Committee Updates
The M&E Sub-Committee reported that they now have a timeline for when they think they will be done with the guide on indicators for health information products and services. They anticipate having a draft by February, sending it out for review by March and having it completed by June 2006.
Members thought it might also be useful if a comprehensive 2 page list of publication types could be compiled. A draft of a list of publication ‘types’ with examples was circulated at the meeting and other HIPNet members will give input.
USAID Branding
The USAID Branding Guide for Partners has not yet come out. The deadline for compliance is Jan 2nd and the guide should be out by then. In the mean time if you have any branding questions, please contact either Peggy D'adamo (mdadamo@jhuccp.org) or Sandra Jordan (sjordan@usaid.gov).
Once the guide is published, HIPNet Sandra will organize a meeting for all partners to talk specifically about branding. Someone suggested that it might be valuable to bring in the design people at your organization to a meeting like that.
Publications Planning
We conducted our 3rd annual publications planning exercise, with some changes from last year. Members were asked to come prepared to share with the group what their organization is planning on publishing in either the 2005-2006 or 2006-2007 fiscal years.
Members then put the following information on a yellow post-it note:
Title/Topic of publication
Organization
Type of publication
Audience
Funding Source
Partners
These post-its were then put up around the room (by topic) and other members were able to check for areas of collaboration. Each member retrieved her/his own post-its and will have their own list posted on the Wiki ASAP.
NOTE: As you do your workplan over the next couple of weeks, PLEASE POST ALL YOUR PLANNED PUBLICATIONS ON THE HIPNET LIST AND REVIEW WHAT OTHERS HAVE POSTED. We will be circulating the list to USAID CTOs and to Margaret Neuse.
If you need help posting your materials, contact Peggy D'Adamo (mdadamo@jhuccp.org) or Anjali Sanghiv (asanghvi@jhuccp.org ).
