This continuation of the ABC of AIDS series provides
a clinical review of HIV/AIDS in developing nations.
It begins with the epidemiology of HIV-1 and HIV-2
infections, discusses the clinical aspects of HIV
diseases, AIDS case definitions and staging of HIV
disease, and closes with strategies for the management
of HIV infected people in the developing world.
Population Growth and Urbanization: Cities at the Forefront
Cities in the developing world are at the forefront
of the global struggle to achieve better living standards.
How urban residents and their governments meet the
challenges of rapid population growth and development
will largely determine the kind of world that lies
