Upcoming Issues of Population Reports
Coming Soon:
- Elements in Successful Family Planning Programming—Lessons drawn from over 40 years of delivering family planning services find that successful family planning organizations have key characteristics in common. For instance, they provide up-to-date technical guidance, communicate with more than one approach, use a variety of service delivery modes, and ensure adequate supplies. This report will summarize examples and lessons learned from the field on the key elements that help family programs succeed, and will inform managers on how to incorporate these elements into their organization. This report is being prepared by Catherine Richey.

- Vasectomy: An Update—Population Reports last covered vasectomy in 1992. Vasectomy is safe and one of the most effective methods but continues to be underused in most countries. Information, education, and communication campaigns have successfully increased use of the method and more can be done. Also, research findings have clarified many questions regarding eligibility criteria, optimal technique, post surgical follow-up, and risk of long-term complications and health concerns. This report is being prepared by Vidya Setty and Robert Lande.
- New Findings on Family Planning Methods—This report will cover new research and program findings on each of the contraceptive methods, with specific emphasis on cutting-edge topics such as spermicidal and HIV risk and hormonal contraception and cervical cancer risk. It will help readers interpret some of the recent research that has drawn widespread attention by providing the context and background for the findings. This report is being prepared by Deepa Ramchandran and Ruwaida Salem.
