Child Brides: Stolen Lives

January 29th, 2008          4:30-6:00pm           Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Sheldon Hall

The International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Department of Population, Family Planning and Reproductive Health, and Center for Communication Programs (CCP) presented a selected screening of Child Brides: Stolen Lives, produced by the weekly newsmagazine NOW on PBS.

The issue of child marriage is a public health and development issue with detrimental consequences on children, families, communities and nations. Child Brides documents forced child marriages in India, Niger and Guatemala, and shows community members campaigning to end the practice. A partial screening of the documentary was followed by a panel discussion with leading experts on child marriage.
