Ordering Policies for Documents and Photos

Document Delivery Policy

Institutions and individuals in developing countries can request full-text copies of most documents cited in the IYWG Database free of charge. Requests are processed during business hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm US Eastern Standard Time. 

United States Copyright Law


The IYWG provides documents in accordance with United States Copyright Law for personal use only. Please review the following restrictions which apply to all documents supplied through the IYWG database:

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One specified condition is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

To order documents from the IYWG Database:

      1 .  Check your local library or information center for the document. It can be ordered if it:


      2.  Limit your request to 15 documents or fewer.  The IYWG will process one document request for a maximum
           of 15 documents per customer per day
. We cannot provide rush service.

    1. Photo Delivery Policy

      Images in the IYWG database are intended for journalistic, documentary use. If your request is for illustrative purposes, you may be asked to provide additional information and/or a draft of your material, substitute original selections with more relevant alternatives, meet other conditions of use, or utilize a more appropriate photo resource such as a commercial stock photo agency.

      Please allow 1-3 business days for us to process your request. If you are submitting an urgent request, please indicate your deadline on the request form, and we will do our best to rush your request. In most cases, we are able to process last minute requests the same day they are received. If your request is approved, you will receive an email with instructions to download free copies for one-time use.
