Youth Reproductive Health and HIV Prevention:
New Research, Program Experiences, and Applications

May 7, 2007
Washington, DC

The objectives of the first Interagency Youth Working Group (IYWG) meeting were:

  1. To introduce the IYWG to the USAID collaborating-agency community and other organizations working on youth RH/HIV issues.
  2. To present new research results and program experiences on youth RH/HIV.
  3. To share ideas for applying latest knowledge and recommendations in program settings.

The agenda (see below) included an introduction to the IYWG along with highlights of three new youth websites. The morning concurrent session focused on New Research Findings and Approaches, and the afternoon session emphasized Promising Programmatic Interventions Building on Research Findings. The next day, May 8, the IYWG and Family Health International sponsored a half-day meeting with mini-trainings on how to use tools for working with youth in faith-based settings, HIV counseling and testing situations, and peer education. These were developed under the FHI-led YouthNet program.
