The International Youth Foundation (IYF) works in nearly 70 countries and territories to improve the conditions and prospects for young people. Health education and awareness, including reproductive health and HIV/AIDS is one of IYF’s four main focus areas. Below are some IYF publications. What Works in Street Children Programming: The JUCONI Model (PDF, 1.4 MB; 2001)
This report describes the model for working with street children developed by the Junto Con Los Niños (JUCONI) Foundation, established in 1989 in the central Mexican city of Puebla and later in Ecuador. It reports on challenges, successes, and lessons learned.
 
What Works on Youth Engagement in the Balkans (PDF, 2.7 MB; 2005)
This study examines the efforts of 16 local organizations in eastern Europe to support and empower youth as agents of social change. Ranging from programs focused on life skills development to service learning programs designed to have youth become involved in community development, these programs share a profound belief in the transformative power of youth engagement such involvement for young people.
 
What Works in Youth Participation: Case Studies from Around the World (PDF, 560 KB; 2003)

This report includes a framing of youth participation as a broad program strategy to encourage youth to express their opinions, to become involved, and to be part of the decision-making process at different levels. It includes case studies from nine writers, who candidly discuss achievements and challenges in making youth participation work.
