Constella/Futures – Policy Project and Others

The main youth RH/HIV work by Constella/Futures takes place through the Policy Project’s Adolescent Reproductive Health Working Group. It has a large number of youth publications on its Web site. Some of the most important recent publications are below.

Adolescent and Youth Reproductive Health in the Asia/Near East Region: Status, Issues, Policies, and Programs (PDF, all reports 2003) This 56-page report summarizes a 13-country project, which involved assessments of youth reproductive health, synthesis of findings, and identification of needs. The country reports summarize the findings from all the countries, synthesizing the findings into seven key challenges. They include focusing on gender equity, developing evidence-based programs, and informing policy-makers about youth needs.

Policy Environment for Male Youth in Jamaica: Findings from a Pilot of the Gender Equitable Male Involvement (GEMI) (PDF) This report summarizes the strong interest and need to involve young men in changing gender norms through the policy environment.(2005)

Sexuality Education in Schools: The International Situation and Implications for Nigeria  (PDF) Part of the Policy Project’s working paper series, this report emphasizes from global data that sexuality education usually has positive impacts and is needed in Nigeria. (2004) 
 
Strategic Plan for Adolescent Reproductive Health in Edo State of Nigeria (2004 - 2009) This strategic plan identifies eight strategic areas (education/counseling, improved access to quality services, social mobilization/advocacy, etc.) and presents sample indicators and goals for each strategy. (2003, with Women's Health & Action Research Centre)
